A band of cream slip garlands runs around the shoulder, applied by hand and worn soft with age.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTurn this antique glazed terracotta cache-pot and the story is all there. The interior shows the throwing rings of the potter's wheel spiralling down to a central nub. The rim, inside and recessed base are left as raw chalky clay. Glaze wear breaks through at the high points and along the foot corners, and one side carries a small firing flaw that has quietly wept and stained over the decades.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSet this old French urn on a library shelf with a few worn books, or fill it with a lovely plant and that soaks up the afternoon light. It has spent a long life in France and wears every year of it plainly.
