They were used in southwest France for storing duck confit, rillettes and rendered fat under a sealing layer. They were made to be working pantry jars that were used to preserve food through the season and keep the household supplied.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach stoneware pot is salt-glazed in a warm tobacco brown with lids that sit well.
