This antique French mayonnaise maker is pure kitchen cleverness. The glass jar still carries its original blue Vitesse-Mayonnaise label, complete with the recipe across the front. Egg yolk, salt, pepper, oil from the funnel, turn the crank... and the mayo comes together the old French way.
Made by FUPA, this baratte à mayonnaise likely dates from the 1920s. The cast iron drive wheel has the wonderful FUPA heart cutouts, while the tinplate funnel feeds oil slowly into the jar as the paddle turns inside. The red painted wood handle still adds a great little flash of color.
The glass jar is sound, the screw lid sits tight and the mechanism turns. With the funnel, beater and original label still together, this is a really fun survivor from a working French kitchen. Display it with crocks, wooden spoons or old café pieces where its charm can do the talking. This is really a unique piece of French kitchen history.
