This antique Italian wine bottle has the kind of presence that stops you for a closer look.
The dark olive green glass reads almost black until the light moves through it. The applied glass seal gives the whole piece a wonderful sense of history. Set it on a shelf, table or mantel with a candle nearby and the green glass starts to glow.
This bottiglia con sigillo, or sealed bottle, is dated 1882 on the shoulder seal. The embossed mark reads Albergo d’Italia, with the name Gasparo Bonaventura around the edge and a top hat at the center. Bottles like this were likely filled for an inn or house table, carrying wine or spirits directly to guests.
The bottle is hand blown with a deep punt, small bubbles and slight irregularities from the glassmaker’s hand. It is heavy, sculptural and full of old-world character. Display it on its own, with a simple flower stem or two... or among other antique glass. A really special piece of Italian wine history.

We accept returns within 14 days of delivery in line with EU consumer law. Buyer covers return shipping and items must be returned in original condition. Refunds include the item price and original standard shipping.
