Antique French Copper Colander Set of Three | Brass Paw Feet | Early 20th Century
This set of three antique French copper colander bowls offer a beautiful display to any kitchen. The graduated trio of passoires en cuivre (copper colanders) was likely produced in France between roughly 1890 and 1910, made for the kitchens that prized beautiful tools as much as beautiful food. No maker's mark visible.
Each antique copper kitchen bowl was shaped by hand, with a rolled rim and a defining banded girdle around the lower body. The drainage holes are punched in small flower clusters, a rosette pattern that turns a working detail into ornament. Squared brass bracket handles are riveted to the rim. Each bowl rests on three cast brass paw feet, the kind of finishing touch you only see on pieces that were made to be looked at as well as used.
Stack them on an open shelf and the warm copper glow gives a kitchen its anchor. Use the smallest as a berry bowl, the middle for cherry tomatoes coming in from the garden, and the largest as a fruit bowl by the window. This antique French copper strainer set carries the everyday charm of a Provençal farmhouse, shaped by more than a century of use and ready to begin the next chapter in your home.
