This French beech cutting board has a form you do not see every day. The raised gallery on three sides makes it feel almost architectural, while the worn working surface tells you exactly why it was made: chop, gather, sweep, repeat.
This planche à découper ancienne, or old cutting board, likely dates from the late 19th century. The gallery keeps herbs, bread, pastry trimmings or chopped vegetables contained, while the open end lets everything slide cleanly into a bowl, pan or waiting hand.
The beech has aged to a warm golden tone, with knife marks, a softened central hollow and darker wear from years of kitchen work. Iron nails hold the raised edges in place, and a small iron eye screw allows the board to hang when not in use.
Set on a counter with an old knife, a bunch of herbs and a linen towel nearby, it has the look of a kitchen that has been collected over time. Useful, unusual and full of quiet French working character.

Are returns or exchanges accepted?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery in line with EU consumer law. Buyer covers return shipping and items must be returned in original condition. Refunds include the item price and original standard shipping.
