This antique French faience plate has the kind of quiet elegance that works almost anywhere. Its large enough to be a round serving plate and just simple enough to not overpower any table. The edge detail is delicate and inviting.
This assiette ancienne (old plate) comes from the Faïencerie de Longwy in Lorraine and is marked on the underside in the Capucia pattern. It likely dates from the late 19th to early 20th century, consistent with Longwy production of the period.
The decoration is a continuous floral garland printed in deep teal blue across the wide rim, framed by thin teal lines. Look closely and you can see small flowers, leaves and curling tendrils repeating around the edge. The detail is precious.
The surface shows fine craquelure throughout, known in French as réseau de craquelures. It has aged naturally into the glaze and gives the plate a quiet depth. The overall effect is simple and clean.
Today, it would be beautiful mixed into a stack of white ironstone or used as a platter to serve sliced melon wrapped in prosciutto... or whatever your next gathering might have in store. It brings a touch of Lorraine to the table with a subtle confidence.

Are returns or exchanges accepted?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery in line with EU consumer law. Buyer covers return shipping and items must be returned in original condition. Refunds include the item price and original standard shipping.
