This French terracotta oil jar has a wonderfully intimate scale, the kind that feels easy to place and hard to ignore. The rounded body, small side spout, twin handles and coiled collar around the opening give it a sculptural quality... while the worn clay keeps it firmly tied to daily kitchen life.
Known as a jarre à huile, or oil jar, this piece was hand thrown in red earthenware and likely dates from the 19th century. The upper section is finished in a deep brown glaze that gathers around the handles, spout and neck, while the lower body remains bare terracotta with visible throwing rings.
The surface carries firing marks, kiln speckling, mineral deposits and the softened wear of long use. Set on a shelf, console or windowsill with dried greenery, old books or other early pottery... it brings that collected French feeling to just about any room.

Are returns or exchanges accepted?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery in line with EU consumer law. Buyer covers return shipping and items must be returned in original condition. Refunds include the item price and original standard shipping.
