This antique French pichet jaune has the kind of color that changes the beauty of a shelf all by itself. Glazed in a rich honey yellow over terracotta, it was likely made in the South-West of France sometime in the 19th century... when everyday pottery was still being thrown by hand for real kitchen use.
Look closely and the hand of the potter is still easy to see. Throwing rings run the full height of the body, the handle was pulled and attached by hand, and the glaze has aged into a warm, glassy surface with subtle iridescent patches where the light catches it. There is glaze wear along part of the rim, revealing the clay beneath and the base shows the darkened center you expect from a wood-fired kiln.
This aged French yellow pitcher brings warmth wherever it lands. It works beautifully with a single stem on a windowsill, beside a bowl of lemons on the kitchen counter or simply left on its own where the glaze can do the talking. Pieces with this much color and this much age are getting harder to find.

Are returns or exchanges accepted?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery in line with EU consumer law. Buyer covers return shipping and items must be returned in original condition. Refunds include the item price and original standard shipping.
