Antique French Saint-Amand Soupière | Fruits Pattern Faience, c. 1900
This antique French soupière has the kind of presence that makes any table feel more sophisticated before the meal is even served. The rounded body, domed lid, ribbon loop finial and deep teal-green transferware give it a generous country-table feeling... it's elegant without being too formal.
Marked for A. Lebacqz et M. Bouchart of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux, this covered tureen is in the Fruits pattern and dates to around 1892 to 1912. The decoration includes leafy garlands, fruit and scrollwork on a warm cream faience body, with the pattern continuing across the lid.
The glaze shows fine crazing, surface wear and interior staining from long use. The lid sits well and no cracks are visible. Filled with soup for Sunday lunch or displayed between meals, it brings real French faience charm to the table.
