This vintage French JEP toy balance scale is just delightful. It has the charm of a real kitchen scale, but in miniature size... with green painted cast iron, removable brass pans and enough detail to make it feel like a proper little shopkeeper’s scale.
Made by JEP, or Jouets de Paris, this balance jouet likely dates from the 1930s. It is modeled after a classic Roberval kitchen scale, with the JEP mark cast into the body and the kind of playful seriousness French toy makers did so well.
The green paint shows age and wear at the high points, while the brass pans have warmed beautifully over time. Display it on a kitchen shelf, child’s bookcase or desk where the color, scale and French toy history can be enjoyed. A small piece with a lot of personality.

Are returns or exchanges accepted?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery in line with EU consumer law. Buyer covers return shipping and items must be returned in original condition. Refunds include the item price and original standard shipping.
