This plateau et dessous de bouteille, or tray and bottle coaster set, likely dates from the late 19th century. The tray is painted with a central bouquet and scrolling grapevine border, while the two coasters each carry their own small floral decoration.
The surface shows aged craquelure, wear to the lacquer and a softened gilt rim from long use. Two small hooks show that the tray has also spent part of its life displayed on a wall. Complete, colorful and full of French table charm, this is a delightful set for a sideboard, bar area or country kitchen.
