Antique French Copper Saucepan Set | Set of Five | Early 20th Century
This set of five antique French copper saucepans works because it is a complete set. The pans nest together beautifully to be used in a real French kitchen for generations. These pans have seen scores of sauces, gobs of melted butter, delicious reductions and all the little cooking tasks that serious kitchen might do.
There is something satisfying about seeing five graduated copper pans together. Each one has a warm copper exterior, a tinned interior, and a riveted brass handle. The graduated handles match the pan size and each has a hanging eyelet at the end.
These antique French copper saucepans likely date from the early to mid 20th century. The copper is lighter gauge, often associated with home cook use rather than the thicker restaurant level copper. The interiors are lined in tin for food contact. No maker’s mark present, but the construction and materials are consistent with French copper cookware from the period.
The copper has been polished to a warm glow with some small surface marks. The tinning shows wear from use, but the set still carries that lovely working character that makes old French copper so appealing. The smallest two pans have slight imperfections.
Today, this set would be beautiful hung from a rail above the cooktop, stacked on an open shelf, or nested together on a kitchen counter. It's a beautiful set that will still be working hard for future generations.
