Before mass-produced packaging, every ingredient had its container. Antique French jars, crocks, canisters, boxes and baskets once stored flour, salt, spices, coffee, tea, preserves and everyday provisions in kitchens, pantries and grocers’ shops across France.

This collection may include preserving jars, apothecary jars, tin canisters, stoneware crocks, tea caddies, bread boxes, wooden containers and woven baskets. Some retain an original label, maker’s mark, brand name or period advertisement, offering a small glimpse into the household and commercial life of another era.

Crafted from glass, stoneware, tin, wood, wicker and other practical materials, antique French storage containers combine usefulness with beautifully aged character. Arranged in a pantry, cupboard or kitchen, they bring warmth, texture and the quiet beauty of objects made to be used and kept.
