More about this collection
French and Provençal pottery carries the warmth, color and character of everyday life in the south of France. This collection brings together antique pottery, glazed terracotta, confit pots, pitchers, bowls, jars and decorative earthenware chosen for their shape, surface, patina and quiet decorative presence.
Many of these pieces were made for practical use in kitchens, farms, village homes and country houses. Their glazes, shapes and colors reflect regional French traditions: from ochre, honey and brown tones to the greens and yellows often associated with Provence.
Some pieces are simple and utilitarian, while others have a more decorative quality, ideal for open shelving, dining rooms, kitchen displays, entryways and collected interiors. Age may show through crazing, old repairs, firing marks or staining. Each builds the items character.
Displayed alone or gathered together, antique French and Provençal pottery brings texture, warmth and rustic French character to the home.
